(Los Angeles, CA) – Filmmaker Nadeem J. Uddin joined more than 70 million pilgrims in January 2001 for the Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, India. It was the largest gathering of humanity in recorded history. Uddin captured this sacred coming together of holy men, saints, and guru’s for his highly acclaimed documentary, KUMBH MELA: SONGS OF THE RIVER.

The Spiritual Cinema Circle, America’s fastest growing DVD club specializing in uplifting and inspiring films, presents KUMBH MELA: SONGS OF THE RIVER to subscribers in its April collection along with a feature film and two short films. Acquired from film festivals around the world, subscribers pay $21 each month and receive four films (or more) on DVD that are theirs to keep.

KUMBH MELA: SONGS OF THE RIVER follows the Nagas, or holy men, as they come down from their mountain isolation to bathe in the holy waters that flow where India’s most sacred rivers meet. Religious discussions, devotional singing, and demonstrations of spiritual powers are part of the program. Featured holy men and women include the Dalai Lama, Pilot Baba, Kali Baba, and Yogamata Keiko Aikawa.

Making a movie isn’t easy in the best of circumstances. Filming at the Kumbh Mela, a temporary city for millions, had its own challenges.

According to Director/Producer/Editor, Nadeem J. Uddin, “Every guru had loudspeakers broadcasting chants and speeches. The noise was ear-splitting and never stopped until the power went out. Then it was a sudden, silent blackout. Somebody would get the generators going, and it would all start up again.”

National Geographic reports that the Kumbh Mela is “a sea of humanity. The largest gathering of people in one place on a single day anywhere in the world.” To see KUMBH MELA: SONGS OF THE RIVER for FREE (you pay just $3.95 shipping & handling) please visit http://www.spiritualcinemacircle.com/km

The Spiritual Cinema Circle, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cinema Circle, Inc., is the pioneer in subscription based home entertainment distribution for the niche market of Spiritual Cinema, with an audience waiting to see spiritually themed films that until now have gone virtually unappreciated and unseen.
