Oakseed Ministries International Launches New Blogsite for Youth Featuring Leading Experts on Child Hunger

VIENNA, Va. – Oakseed Ministries International, www.oakseed.org, today announced a new blogsite for youth that is designed to help young people to think critically about the issue of international child hunger. The blogsite will feature insights from experts on the issue of child hunger, and is connected to an international essay contest for youth sponsored by Oakseed that is entitled: Compassion and the Starving Child.

The first featured interview on the new blogsite is an interview with Rev. Jim McDonald, vice president for policy and programs for Bread for the World, www.bread.org.

“We are pleased to offer this new blogsite to engage young people on the issue of starving children worldwide. We are particularly enthused to feature interviews with experts from organizations such as Bread for the World, World Vision and others.” said Ed Bradley, president of Oakseed Ministries International. “This blogsite is connected to Oakseed’s essay contest: Compassion and the Starving Child. Oakseed Ministries hopes to empower children here in the U.S. and abroad to think critically about the worldwide epidemic of child hunger and starvation. We value the wisdom of children regarding the needs of the poor and disenfranchised in our world.”

The blogsite and essay contest are a part of a yearlong effort to raise awareness of the plight of starving children that will culminate in the Annual Day of Prayer for Children at Risk on June 4, 2006. There is still time for young people to submit essays to this international essay contest.
