Russell D. Moore named a Senior Editor of Touchstone

One of the leading young theologians in the Southern Baptist Convention, Russell D. Moore, has been named to the editorial board of the national magazine Touchstone, a magazine described by Wilfred McClay as “required reading for thoughtful Christians who yearn to recover the unity of the church.”

Moore is academic dean and senior vice president at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where he serves as executive director of the Carl F. H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement. His widely praised The Kingdom of Christ: The New Evangelical Perspective appeared in 2004. He had been a contributing editor of Touchstone.

When asked about his appointment, Moore said, “Touchstone is a whirling dervish of provocative conviction and ‘caffeinated Christianity.’ It allows real differences among the writers, encourages real thought among the readers, and prophetically calls for real change in the culture. I am blessed to be on the team of my favorite magazine.”

Describing itself as “a journal of mere Christianity," the monthly magazine published in Chicago is concerned to bring the common Christian heritage to bear on contemporary culture and to advancing Christian unity by engaging divided Christians in a common mission.

Moore's colleagues on the editorial board include Robert George, McCormick Professor at Princeton University; constitutional historian James Hitchcock; Orthodox archpriest Patrick Henry Reardon; and historian Wilfred McClay, a member of the board of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
