The Foundation for American Communications (FACS), a not-for-profit and non-partisan education center for journalists, will host a telephone- and internet-based seminar on immigration trends and issues on:

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.
The program will include two discussions:

Dr. Park's areas of research include immigration, race, demography and urban studies. Her doctoral dissertation at USC in 2003 focused on "The Socioeconomic Progress of Southeast Asian Immigrants across the United States." Her works examine the historical, social, political, and economic context from which Southeast Asians came and subsequently, tracks their socioeconomic progress in the U.S. on multiple indicators with an in-depth analysis on the dynamics of poverty (indicators include educational attainment, English proficiency, labor force participation, occupation, earnings, poverty, household income, household size, homeownership, and public assistance). She also received a MA in sociology and a Masters in Urban Planning from USC and a BA from UC Davis.
Dr. Gaston Espinosa, Assistant Professor, Philosophy and Religious Studies, Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, California
Dr. Espinosa's research interests focus on Latino history and religions. He served as research director for the Hispanic Churches in American Public Life (HCAPL) project, the largest study in U.S. history on Latino religion and politics. He is co-author, with Virgilio Elizondo and Jesse Miranda, of "Latino Religions and Civic Activism in the United States" (Oxford, April 2005), and a contributor to "Latino Pentecostal Healing in the Borderlands," in Religious Healing in America, eds., Linda Barnes and Susan Sered (Oxford, 2004), among others. In recognition of his scholarly contribution to the Latino community and American public life, the Generations Center of Princeton named him one of the nation's 100 Positive Men of Color. He holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
