NEW YORK - November 17, 2006 - Legendary singer and actor Pat Boone will host Thanksgiving USA, a syndicated holiday special presented by the American Bible Society running on over 110 local and cable television stations across the country throughout the Thanksgiving weekend. Viewers should check local listings for specific viewing times.
This magazine-style program features inspirational stories. From a man who fled his country to seek asylum in the United States where he could freely practice his religion to a community on the mend after suffering a horrific loss during a natural disaster, Thanksgiving USA explores the meaning of Thanksgiving for many Americans.
"This television special celebrates America's unifying spirit of inclusiveness and liberty," said Dr. Paul Irwin, president, the American Bible Society. "We are pleased to have this excellent opportunity to remind Americans that despite the hardships we face and the complexities of our many cultures learning to live together, this national holiday is the day that brings all of us to the table of gratitude, tradition, festivity, and Thanksgiving."
Thanksgiving USA is the Bible Society's second television project this year. Last April, the Bible Society introduced American Bible Society Presents. This weekly half-hour talk show, which launched on 275 TV stations nationwide, featured panelists discussing the Bible's connections to modern life. American Bible Society Presents won a Telly Award and begins its second season January 2007.
