Will the World Muslim League Respond? An Open Letter to the Leadership Of Islam

Bel Air, MD – Howard (Howie) Gardner, author and Pastor of Bel Air Assemblies of God Church, Maryland, has composed a letter that has been approved by George Wood, General Secretary, of the General Council of the Assemblies of God and numerous other leaders within the Christian Church.

The letter is directed to the World Muslim League, which would be Islam’s equivalent to the Vatican. Howie’s goal is to gather more support from the National Association of Evangelical Christians so that the Muslim leaders are pressured into answering the very poignant questions presented in this letter.

This letter is neither a slam or nor a put-down of the Muslim religion—it is based on the comparison of the similarities of the Muslim and Christian beliefs composed to illicit a response from the Muslim leadership as to why they would condone the terrorism being thrust upon the non-Muslim believers throughout the world.

The letter Gardner states: “It is to be recognized that both of our faiths have much in common. We both recognize the existence of one God Who created the universe. We acknowledge that God is holy and that all of His ways are just and perfect. We stress the importance of worshiping God above all else. We acknowledge the importance of loving one another, of caring for the poor, the elderly, the sick or injured and those who are wrongfully outcast. We have an inward desire for peace and acknowledge that it can only be attained by seeking this God of peace.”

The letter contains eight in-depth questions of which the Christian leaders and populace would like a formal response.
